Sustainable Water Storage in Nepal

With a monsoon climate that delivers the vast majority of Nepal’s annual precipitation between June and September, water scarcity is an important challenge for rural Nepali households.  Storage options in the hill region are limited, on account of topographic challenges posed by the location of arable land and human settlements.  IWREC member John Janmaat has been involved in research studying the role that small scale storage can play in sustaining rural livelihoods.
